Daved makes a good point with pricing. What about the $300,000 range?
Especially in this market where trawler/pilothouse prices are falling.
Recently saw a 50' Trawler/pilothouse that was priced at $400,000 came down a
$100,000. This is the second trawler i've seen recently that's had a substantial
decrease in price. The point is there are values out there right now for a
trawler/pilothouse in the $300K-$400K price range.
Another option!

Hello, could we ask all the sailors on here to look at not the top 600K
trawler but put their experience to making a good seaworthy small passagemaker,
and what a small passagemaker would need. I think it is good to look at the top
of the market knowing the products which have world wide reputation but when
you have to put your mind to the economical solution and making the budget
solution there may be a different story.
Any thoughts ?

You cannot select a target price for a "design your own and build it new"
boat by reference to the current price of a used boat. That is mixing
apples and oranges. The fact that you can buy a used 20 year old boat for
$100,000 does not mean that you can design and build a similarly sized
vessel for a comparable price.

PS -- Brian should be through building my PPM in early summer, so if anyone
wants an old used boat or know anyone that does, I will have one available
in the near future. My current goal is to try to avoid owning two boats at
the same time!
