V4.5 QA Testing Update

Huge thanks to all those who have contributed to the v4.5 testing effort. We still have around 40 tests to go - if everyone on the talk list picked up one, we'd be done in a day!

We're excited to get v4.5 wrapped up and out the door, and getting through these QA tests and finding any bugs is critical to that effort.

The google doc with the list of outstanding tests is here:

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1O8dBYB5E_pfXUKhMSedt-cwHPkeaS1PB0BP1nDR-sDw/edit?usp=sharing

And the link to the QA site is here:

http://qa.collectionspace.org:8180/collectionspace/ui/core/html/index.html

Please let Richard or me know if you have any questions or concerns.

Thanks,

Megan

I will be rebuilding the QA server instance over the weekend.  This means that ALL test data will be lost.  If you're in the middle of a test that needs existing data, please finish the test before Sunday morning.

Richard,

I believe QA is normally understood that all tests are performed using the
actual release candidate. Since we now have a new release candidate after
the rebuild this weekend won't it be necessary to restart QA from the
beginning?

I understand this is onerous and that resuming from where we left off may
be a calculated risk; I hope you'll clarify the approach for the community.

I'm looking forward to the imminent release of a quality product, v4.5!

Richard is out of town until next Monday. Until then, please continue to QA as normal and we'll re-evaluate when Richard returns whether we need to revisit any tests.

We will NOT be asking the community for ALL the test cases to be re-run after each new build -only the tests that resulted in new JIRA issues need to be re-run.

For those of you who created JIRA issues at issues.collectionspace.org, please check their current status.  If they've been marked 'closed' or 'resolved' that means we think they've been addressed in the latest build available on qa.collectionspace.org.  Please VERIFY that your issue has been resolved by re-running the corresponding test(s).

Don't forget about the CHOCOLATE raffle.  You only need to assign yourself (and complete) one test case to be eligible.  To encourage your further, if you find a BLOCKER bug (a bug that would prevent us from shipping v4.5) then your name will be entered 10x in the raffle pool!
