12/12/13 - New Haven, Edgewood Park -- 10:30 to 11:30 AM; huge flock
of about 80 Rusty Blackbirds seen at various locations between
Edgewood Ave and Whalley Ave. Did not see any grackles, Redwing
Blackbirds, Starlings, or Brown-headed Cowbirds. All identified birds,
about 30-40 altogether, were clearly Rusty Blackbirds, with their
rusty winter plumage showing nicely in bright sun. On the basis of not
seeing any other blackbirds in the flock, particularly redwings, which
are frequently seen here, I estimate a total of 80 altogether.
