DSC Handheld Radios

If you have any interest in handheld DSC radios, you will find this web
page to be fascinating.

Note: that the UK requires a separate license for EACH handheld, they
are assigned individual MMSI numbers. And the license is not good out
side of the UK or its territorial waters.

If the radio is sold the license must be transferred to the new owner,
including the MMSI number.

Summary: what does all this mean to US users and those in other
countries? I'll be hanged if I can figure it out.

I ran across some other material that suggests that all the handhelds
have the same MMSI number... Go figr.
