To Jonathan: We made our transatlantic cruise from West Falmouth (USA) to
Greece in 1984 and returned in 1987. Since then we have been to Bermuda
twice (1997 and 2002). Last year we went to Prince Edward Island (Canada). Now
to your question. In most cases trawlers that did ocean stuff were one of a
kind and very few types of the names mentioned in your email. Most of
these one of a kind were of steel construction and one in particular was
cement/reinforced construction. In our case we were an oddball with the normal
question "you came over in that". Remember that was some time ago.
Today you have good choices with which you can balance your type of
cruising and needs. The only caveat I have is keep things simple and do not be on
a schedule.
Regards and Good Luck
