The October 9 issue of "The Economist" devotes one third of a page (a lot of real estate for The Economist) to the White-Tailed Kite at Stratford Point, CT.  Their premise that southern birds are appearing in New England owing to global warming (an economic force, in their view) is the economic tie.

At any rate, the kite has turned up where I least expected it.

It's author is "our own' (ok, Yale's own) Sulmaan Khan, of Lighthouse Point Park fame.
