1972 Grand Banks 32 Classic

This is a highly desirable Great Loop veteran... having completed two Loops and is on the third. It has the comfortable ride of wood and the economy of a Grand Banks 32.

The Lucky Maru has been a 6+ year project and is in great cruising condition... this boat is one of the nicest examples of a classic wood trawler in the US.
The single Ford-Lehman has just over 6100 hours and the recent Blackstone oil analysis report states: This oil was in place almost as long as the universal averages interval for this type of engine, which is about 225 hours of oil use. Wear metals in this sample line up well with averages so no internal problems stand out. Mechanical parts are working well together, and there isn't any evidence of an issue in these results.

Dual Racor filters keep the fuel clean and the new American Tanks aluminum fuel tanks have replaced the old black steel subject to failure in these boats.

Since leaving Duluth MN on 18 Sep of 2020, the boat has performed flawlessly. A spare parts kit from American Diesel, and extra filters are always carried. Running at 1350 RPM we have been averaging 5+ MPG while maintaining a ground speed of approximately 7.5 MPH. In addition, there is a spare 3-blade prop.

The electronics are new and include Garmin 942xs and 742xs chart plotters, HD18+ Radar, BT150 Sonar transducer, Standard-Horizon Matrix 2150 VHF/AIS in the salon and a Standard-Horizon GX1400 on the bridge, and includes a rear facing camera interface.

Interior cushions and exterior matching cushions are extremely comfortable making the Lucky Maru and very comfortable cruising trawler. The boat was stripped to bare wood, coated with CPES epoxy and then painted with Interlux Brightside, all brightwork has received a minimum of 10 coats of Epifanes Extra UV varnish.

In addition to refinishing, the windows were removed and new sliding channel installed... the boat is very tight and has no leaks. The boat is ventilated with a series of 12v DC brushless fans with those in the main salon venting cabin heat from the ceiling and thru the flying bridge lockers keeping them dry.

The decks are in excellent condition and any and all seams replaced with the Teak Deck Systems SIS 440 Caulking, the best product for teak decking seams.

The flying bridge has just received a coating of KiwiGrip anti-slip coating which makes the bridge much safer when the weather gets rough. And the high gloss varnished trim set to be reinstalled.

Ground tackle is a CQR 25 lb anchor with 150' 5/8 rode and 25' 3/8 chain - secondary is a Danforth with 150' of rode and 20' chain. In addition to renewing the boat there are new fire extinguishers and USCG approved 30" throwable life ring plus Plastimo Life Sling.

The boat has exterior window coverings and a full canvas flying bridge enclosure however it was left in Minnesota - we didn't have the time to reinstall it as we were too late in the season and had to head out to make the lock opening on the Illinois river... it is available.

We are still reinstalling some of the trim including the newly refinished windshield mounts - the boat has a fully enclosed canvas/isinglass and the previous owner removed the windshield - it is ready for re-installation.

The dinghy is a refurbished "JollyBoat" (newer version is the Rigid Boat 8.5 Tender, Tiller Model: NO MOTOR $7,040) and is included in the sale.

The boat as she sits is ready to continue the Great Loop in absolute comfort... due to the size she is easy to handle in the locks, cheap to slip at a marina, and totally comfortable whether in a slip, mooring, or anchorage. Lucky Maru is a proven performer... and ready for the next owner to truly enjoy and shows pride every place she's seen.

Thank you for looking, she is a beautiful boat which from now on will only require keeping her that way.

Price reduced to $45,500 to avoid brokerage and storage fees.
