I find it strange that many folks keep spending $$$ on nyjer when the
siskins and goldfinches here have been happily eating black oil sunflower
all winter and spring. I've done nothing to the sunflower seeds to help
them (crushing, blendering, etc.), they appear to be fully capable of
opening them on their own.

that's odd, it went down in Mansfield - Thompsons was $20 for 40# a couple weeks ago and was going on sale this month
