05/14/14 - Meriden, Fairfax Avenue, about halfway down the dead end
street -- 6:45 AM; lots of warblers in the oaks, including Cape May
warbler, Bay-breasted Warbler, Tennessee Warbler, Blackburnian
Warbler.
Meriden yard -- 13 species of warbler including Cape May Warbler,
Bay-breasted Warbler, Tennessee Warbler and Blackburnian Warbler.

05/14/14 - New Haven, East Rock Park -- 4 Cape May Warblers continue
at start of the Giant Steps.

05/14/14 - New Haven, East Rock Park, English Drive opposite Rice
Field, start of road to the Giant Steps -- 8:25 AM to 10:10 AM; the
immature male Summer Tanager was observed for a period of 5 minutes
beginning at 8:40 AM.  It was first seen flying into the large spruce
tree from the direction of English Drive.  The bird remained in the
spruce, giving periodic good views as it foraged.  A Scarlet Tanager
then was observed to chase the Summer Tanager to the east and into the
deciduous forest, ending the observations.  Christine Howe took a
series of photographs of the Summer Tanager.  Also seen in the spruce,
the adjacent oak, and surrounding trees were at least 3 Cape May
Warblers, 2-3 Bay-breasted Warblers (8:53, 9:46, 10:08 A.M.), a male
Blackburnian Warbler.

05/14/14 - New Haven, East Rock Park, opposite Rice Field where the
Giant Steps starts -- Cape May Warblers (at least two males, one
female) seen regularly from 12:45 until whenever I left (hours later).
Also seen at least once, Bay-breasted Warbler, Blackburnian Warbler.

05/13/14 - Stratford, Lordship Seawall -- 7 PM; one flock each of
Black Scoters (14) and White-winged Scoters (75) migrating west.
05/14/14 - Stratford, Lordship Seawall -- 7:40 AM; smaller numbers, 2
Black Scoters and 15 Scoters,sp., this time migrating east. Both loon
species also flying east.

WILSONS WARBLER (first for this location for me),

Yellow-bellied Flycatcher, reports from others of Golden-winged
Warbler and Bay-breasted Warbler.

05/14/14 - Milford, Silver Sands SP, noon, 7 Bobolinks (4 breeding
plumage males) in fields around parking lot picnic tables/sparrow
lanes.  Grass just high enough and tons of beautiful dandelions.

McLean Refuge Rt 10 entrance -- 1 Blackburnian Warbler.

Grosbeak, heard singing in the general area of the feeders and river.

12:30 PM; 2 Yellow-crowned Night-Herons.

05/14/14 -  Hamden, Farmington Canal Trail, between Brooksvale Avenue
and power-line cut -- Tennessee warbler.
West Haven, Marginal Drive -- Wilson's warblers (2).
New Haven, yard -- Blackburnian Warbler (female), Tennessee Warbler
and Wilson's Warbler along with seven other species of warblers.
Hamden/New Haven, East Rock Park -- following up on previous
reports, warbler species totaled 21, highlights being Cape May Warbler
(4), Bay-breasted Warbler, Blackburnian Warbler, Tennessee Warbler,
Wilson's Warbler.

Orchard Oriole.
Fairfield, Bulkley Pond -- 1 SOLITARY SANDPIPER.

morning.
Bloomfield/West Hartford, Reservoir 6 -- the Cliff Swallows are back
at their colony at the MDC building.

05/14/14 - Hamden, near the upper end of Lake Whitney -- At and near
the cul-de-sac at the west end of Ingram Street (off Greenway), there
was a variety of warblers singing and/or foraging around noon today. A
male Bay-breasted Warbler giving its wispy song was the highlight. A
little while later at the northwest corner of the Johnson's Pond
property I heard and then saw a beautiful (of course) male
Blackburnian Warbler.

05/13/14 - Groton -- Got a brief glimpse of a possible Scissor-tailed
Flycatcher flying over Newtown Rd (rte 117) in Groton Tuesday
afternoon about 3:00 PM It was in the vicinity of the Groton Senior
Center.  Didn’t get other than a quick glimpse of it since I was
driving. Others in the area might want to take a look around
especially in  the Bluff Point area since that was the direction it
was going
