For sake of simplicity, can we use oil that is rated for our diesel engines
in our small gas engines so long as the viscosity is the same that is
required for both? It seems that gas engines manufactures typically spec
"S" type of rated oil and diesel manufactures spec "C" rated oil. If the
oil is good for the needs of the diesel is it also good for our cars,
lawnmowers, generators, etc. or do we need to stock 2 different types of
oil?
Many fleet managers down here in Florida have gone to using a top grade
15W-40 for everything, and I'm considering doing the same. I'm already
doing it for my personal engines.
All the Commercial ("C") oil that I would normally use meets or exceeds the
requirements of the Service Station grade ("S").
