Before the focus shifted to Meadowlarks, the topic du jour was  LI Sound duck
sightings, and Greater Scaup in particular.  In the Sept/oct  '07 issue of
Wildbird there is an article about Audubon's top 20 list of  declining species.
The base year is 1967 I believe.  Greater Scaup  are #4 on the list, having
declined by 75%, so those that think they are seeing  less now are most
certainly correct.
