On my project I have been using "Reflectex" a home insulation product. I
actually use it for insulating perishable products I distribute into the
minus 30 degree temps of central Canada. There are several grades but it is
like a blanket with bubble wrap between aluminium foil and or foil and
plastic. It has fire class ratings that vary a bit from the different
grades. A typical single bubble product of 1/4 inch will perform as well as
6 inches of fibre insulation. So far so good and its easy to work with. I
like the stuff but have no connection with the product other than a
satisfied user.
Cut the dims out per the application and screw in trim to hold in place
looks great, Staple in place works great with the reflectex tape over the
edges or to join sections looks professional. I have a wood boat so I am
careful to not close off hull sections that would stop air flow to them. Its
easy to slip behind items attached to walls bulkheads etc by unscrewing the
item and slipping the blanket behind. then just screw the item back into
place on top of the blanket. Great for extra insulation on the fridge etc.I
hope I have not confused.
