and found they do not make 32Volt units. Darn. Guess I will have to try to
find a used Trace U2232 for parts.

Jim's situation is one that many boaters will face in the next few years.'
Fewer and fewer manufacturers will support 32V equipment.
Several options are open at this time.
Locate independent service shops who are willing and able to repair the
32V equipment.
Convert to 24V.
This can be done piece meal or wholesale.
Lighting circuits for 32V will often carry the increased current associated
with the lower voltage for the same power level.
If this is not the case, reduce the total number of lights being supplied or
split the branch circuit and have two supply circuits.
Starters can be rewound for 24V operation instead of 32V.
Some alternators can be modified. Others will have to be replaced.
Hatteras apparently charge so much to rewind things like windshield wiper
motors that it is cheaper to simply buy new 24V.
There is so much 24V equipment being used on larger boats at this time that
the 24V standard is going to be with us for some time to come.
Although there have been rumors concerning a shift to 42V in the
automotive industry, don't hold your breath for this development to affect
the boating industry in short order.
