Extralimital Note: Julian Hough posted about a Zone-tailed Hawk that
has been vacationing on Martha's Vineyard this summer.  "It goes
without saying that as the season progresses, this bird is likely to
move south and I have a feeling that it could well move along the
coast into Connecticut, and Lighthouse Point would be a likely conduit
for its journey south....pay particular attention to any Turkey
Vultures this fall with this species in mind!"

From Hank Golet:
08/05/14 - Old Lyme, Hawk's Nest salt marsh -- imm WHITE IBIS.  Hawk's
Nest is at the start of the Sound View area. The marsh starts north of
Rt 156, goes under the road at small gas station, then to Hawk's Nest
area.  Be very careful driving in Hawk's Nest. Many kids playing and
on bikes in the road.
Sara Zagorski provided directions:
Hawk's Nest Rd is off of Rt 156 in Old Lyme. You will pass Smith Neck
Rd on your right, go past the AC Petersen stand, and it will come up
on your right. There is a road sign plus a big sign with Hawk's Nest
Beach on it. Go straight down until the road ends at the beach, and
turn right on Avenue A, which turns into West End Dr. There are
cottages on the left, and the marsh will appear on the right. Parking
is available there.

From  Hank Golet, Sara Zagorski, Russ Smiley, and Dan Rottino:
08/05/14 - 7:00 PM; 1 immature WHITE IBIS in Hawk's Nest Marsh. The

From Dan Rottino & Family:

with.
