Now one year after moving our Willard 40 from Mexico to SE Alaska my sweet
wife Roseanne tells me "Go buy another boat so we can spend the winter in
Mexico." I have looked at all the trawlers on Yachtworld and can't find a
single one that will meet our criteria. Our problem is that we have no
interest in aft cabin boats because in the Mexican climate we like to spend
lots of time in the cockpit: dining, visiting with friends, or just
enjoying the ambiance. The aft cockpit boats sacrifice this cockpit space
for a commodious aft cabin that has no appeal for us.
That leaves us looking for single engine, sedan style boats, 34-40ft long,
in good condition and under $100k. We need at least 350 gal of fuel and 200
gal of water to cruise the Sea of Cortez.
I also need easy access to the engine room because my knees are going. In
my Willards ( I have a 40 and a 30) I installed a very large hinged hatch
that lifts to let me climb down right on top of the engine, No worming
though a 2'x2' hatch. I just can't do that any more.
Today we looked at a Cheoy Lee 35 sedan. The design and price were
excellent but the boat was in horrible condition both mechanically and
cosmetically. Really too bad. If I were ten year younger and had the time I
would resurrect it but not now!
If any of you can suggest a sedan or Europa model for me to pursue I would
appreciate it.
Thanks
