Tacoma Art Place Partners with D.A.S.H Center in support of Michael Jackson Movie Premiere Event

The D.A.S.H. Center and Reality Check Dance Troupe kick off The Michael Jackson Movie premiere, Tuesday, October 27th, at Regal Cinema 15 at 2410 South 84th Street in Lakewood, Washington. Performances begin at the 9:00pm showing of the Michael Jackson Movie.

Costumes for the troupe have been altered by local fashion designer Tiffanie Peters as part of a partnership with Tacoma Art Place (TAP).  The outfits were made from tuxedos that had previously been donated to TAP for wearable art reconstruction projects.

"We are honored to be a part of this production. Choreographers Jimmy Shields and Charles Simmons and Reality Check Dancers worked diligently to produce a piece that is sure to make MJ smile on the other side. These young people are phenomenal. We'd like to thank Regal Cinemas for allowing us this wonderful opportunity." Sheila Scott commented.

"Collaborating with D.A.S.H Center for their Michael Jackson movie premiere event and meeting all of the dancers was great fun!!  Working with TAP and being able to be envolved in community projects has been very fulfilling," Tiffanie Peters said.

TAP is always looking for new partnerships in the community.  Organizations interested in pursuing a project should contact 253.238.1006 or info@TacomaArtPlace.org.

D.A.S.H. Center for the Arts is a non-profit organization dedicated to broadening the horizons of inner city youth by means of the Arts.  D.A.S.H. Center for the Arts provides quality performing arts instruction and programs to the underserved communities and lower income families of Tacoma/Pierce County. D.A.S.H. Center provides access to the works of under-appreciated African American and other minority artists.  The D.A.S.H. Center for the Arts is a home for people, primarily youth, to develop natural talent, confidence, and self-esteem, as well as acquire the skills necessary for a career in the performing arts.
D.A.S.H. stands for Dancing, Acting, and Singing in Harmony.  While the D.A.S.H. Center for the Arts is available to and welcomes persons of all walks of life, its primary targets are inner city youth, who otherwise, would have less opportunity to explore and develop their creative abilities.  For this reason the D.A.S.H. Center for the Arts is a non-profit organization.  D.A.S.H. is the home for the active, community outreach organization, Reality Check.

Tacoma Art Place is located at 1116 S. 11th Street, Tacoma 98405.  TAP is a non-profit art center in the heart of the revitalized MLK neighborhood. Its mission is to provide access to equipment and training that will allow more people to affordably explore their creativity and artistic ability and has a special emphasis to reach underserved individuals with free or reduced-cost memberships and to offer arts education in the community.
