Dear Colleagues,

This is a friendly reminder that the application deadline for the NHPRC Capacity Building for HBCU Archives Granthttps://www.archives.gov/nhprc/announcement/hbcu-archives#:~:text=Award%20Information,that%20result%20from%20its%20support. https://www.archives.gov/nhprc/announcement/hbcu-archives#:~:text=Award%20Information,that%20result%20from%20its%20support. is quickly approaching: November 7. For those unable to apply this year, please note that the grant has already been renewed for 2025, providing an excellent opportunity to start preparing your applications in advance for next year's cycle.

The National Historical Publications & Records Commission (NHPRC) offers Capacity Building for HBCU Archives grants to support projects that increase access to historical records. These grants can support building capacity at HBCU archives, hiring consultants to develop strategic plans, developing models to support discovery and online access, and purchasing digitization equipment and training.

Here are some key details about the grant:

Award amount: Grants range from $150,000 to $250,000 and can be renewed for up to two years.
*
Support start date: Support for the grants begins no earlier than July 1, 2025.
*
Grant recipient acknowledgment: Grant recipients must acknowledge the NHPRC's grant assistance in all publications and other products that result from the grant.
*
Application process: All institutions applying for an NHPRC grant must use Grants.gov, the government-wide grants portal.

We thank Dr. Julie Fisher for sharing valuable insights on this grant and other NHPRC initiatives at the Membership Meeting. Her guidance during the Funders' Panel helped us understand how members can leverage this opportunity.

Please contact the Director for Access Programs, Anastacia Scott (anastacia.scott@nara.gov), if you have any questions or need further information.
