TWL: Motor Recommendations for 10' Sorensen Dinghy

Hi All,

Our boat came with a 10' Sorensen dinghy attached to the swim platform with
the Weaver system.  We're finding its current propulsion system (me)
inadequate, and would like to hear from others with the same dinghy.

  1. What size motor do you recommend?  A sticker on the boat says it's rated
at 15hp.  We will usually have two adults and two children on board.

  2. What shaft length is appropriate for this boat -- short (15") or long
(20")?  The dealers in our area are unfamiliar with this boat and the
company is apparently out of business.  Our boat did come with a rotating
motor mount so the motor stays vertical when the boat is tipped up on the
swim platform.  The distance from the top of the motor mount to the very
bottom of the boat is 19", though there is a tunnel in the middle of the
    boat between the two pontoons.

Finally, if anyone in the San Francisco Bay Area has a good recommendation
for an outboard motor dealer, please let me know.

Santa thanks you for any recommendations!
