05/17/14 - Guilford, Leete's Island marsh -- Red-necked Phalarope in
the marsh on the left side of the road. Times ranged from 3:25 PM to
7:40 PM.
Shell beach marsh is located at the intersection of CT-146 (aka
Leete's Island Rd) and Shell Beach Rd (this is west of downtown
Guilford). When you arrive at this intersection turn onto Shell Beach
Rd. You will see the marsh immediately on your left. The bird was
swimming in the marsh fairly close to Shell Beach Rd.

River -- 5:39 AM(!); 1 YELLOW-CROWNED NIGHT-HERON.
Madison, West Wharf Road -- Flocks of White-winged Scoter and at least
1 Northern Gannet (as well as flocks of Long-tailed DUCK, Surf
Scoter).

05/17/14 - Fairfield, Grace Richardson Open Space Area -- singing
Kentucky Warbler. The main entrance to Grace Richardson is at the
corner of Congress Street and Morehouse Highway. Enter path and go
straight past a small dam and pond. Trail rises and turns to left. At
top, there is a small brushy field to the right side. Bird was in
brush along the trail.

in a tiny (10' x 4') patch of cattails in a wet spot in margin between
the road to the boat launch and the beach parking lots.
