Journey North is an award-winning internet based science program, that
monitors and measures the arrival of spring across North America through
"first sightings" of certain target species. In the past few years,
ONTBIRD subscribers have generously supported this program by sharing
data, later used in classroom studies by over 300,000 students in Canada
and the United States.

We again request your support. PLEASE DO POST YOUR DATA TO ONTBIRDS. You
may register at the Journey North Website at: www.learner.org/jnorth, and
post your data there. You may also forward your data to:
donald.davis@utoronto.ca.

Sightings should include: date, name and e-mail address of observer,
nearest village and town, name of specie observed and any relevant
particulars.

Target species for 2002 are:

earthworm
frog (first heard)
hummingbird
loon
milkweed (first leaves)
monarch butterfly
monarch egg laying, eggs, larva
oriole, oriole nest-building
red-winged blackbird
barn swallow
other signs of spring

A complete chart listing these events and others is posted at the Journey
North web site but cannot be accessed until you register with the program.

Thank you again for your support. If you could share this information with
other field naturalists or field naturalist clubs, this would be
appreciated.
