No sure how the Defever supports are made. On Rollsdoc ours were glass
covered plywood. They were wet and soft at both top and bottom. We have only  two.
Took them off for several years with no boat deck problems. Then when a got  a
round TUIT I cut and glued 1" ply together. Then cut clear fir for top and
bottom. Then screwed and glued it all together. Then glassed over all of it.
Then faired and gell coated. Reinstalled and it looks great.

The "supports" are called pilasters. I looked at a lot of  used sedans of
different makes and all of the pilasters showed damage, so we gave it up and
went to a sundeck trawler.

That's not a reason to ignore Europa models with their shady overhangs that
also help in rain. These struts are easy to fix. I wish all boat issues were
that easy.
