I read that older Racors [mine are '87] required
an

something like that]. 2 questions: 1 - how to I tell

the filers that I
have require the insert? 2- what are symptoms if I am
using a filter without

Hi Bill-
To determine if your filters require the spacer, look at
the top of the center pipe, inside the filter body. This is
the pipe that extends up through the filter element and
cannister's lid attaches to. If the holes in this pipe
is above the filter, when the filter is pushed down into the
cannister as far as it will go, then you need the spacers.
These spacers are available from Racor and, in the past,
they have always sent them to me when requested, for free. I
also notice that many of the new filters have them in the
same package that the filter is wrapped in.
Hope this helps.
