Observation start time: 07:00:00
Observation end  time: 15:00:00
Total observation time: 8 hours

Official Counter:        Hugh Kent

Observers:        Chuck Sharbaugh, Liz Kent, Paul Gosselin, Peter Veighey

Visitors:
Thanks to Chuck, John, Ralph, Peter and Paul for assistance in observing.
It was good to meet Dennis from Flushing MI who showed a great interest in
the Hawk Watch.

Weather:
The day again started misty but cleared by mid morning. The wind was light
all day from the north east initially then turning to the south mid
morning. The temperature started around 20c and rose to high twenties on
the Tower by the end of the day. Once the mist cleared visibility was good.

Raptor Observations:
The Turkey Vulture (469) migration continues but with relatively low
numbers in small kettles. Sharp-shinned Hawks (68) again took second place
with American Kestrels (31) third, both in relatively low numbers. The
remainder of the ten species each numbered below ten.

Non-raptor Observations:
Blue Jays (28,390) were again passing by heading west for most of the day.
There was a good variety of ducks and waterbirds with both Sandhill Crane
(2) and American White Pelican (5) seen. Warblers continue around the
Tower, but numbers of species are gradually reducing. Golden-crowned
Kinglet and Eastern Towhee were new for the season. The list is at
https://ebird.org/checklist/S151218852

Predictions:
The day is forecast to be calm and misty initially with light winds from
the south west by mid morning, continuing for the rest of the day. Cloud
cover will disperse once the mist is gone and it will be sunny for the rest
of the day. Most likely we will get a similar mix of Raptors as today but
probably not in any greater numbers due to the direction and speed of the
wind.
