Lap Top Experience?
Our Toshiba is off for repairs, plus is normally used for many applications,
which could conflict with nav programs, so.....looking for a stand alone nav
lap top.........
Would like daylight viewable, modest weather proof and ruggedness
(Ithink?).......have picked up a few models from various sources, but would
appreciate  thoughts from those of you who have had experience with any
models, and or know of good experiences with some??

  1. Dell 8600 --hear mentioneded quite often..............any thoughts??
  2. Panasonic Tough Book- Model ? --......................  "      "
  3. Argonaut - Ranger & various models.............Advertised as tough,
    marinized, etc.,etc.,..........more expensive ($2900 for 14", & $3800
    for -15")...?
  4. Big Bay Technologies--Shown at alot of Boat shows- Modestly Marinized,
day light viewable, ok speed & drives, (15") and comes with Nobeltech
    Navigation Software........$2500??????
  5. Group Mobile-  Line of Ruggedized Computers up to $6000 that you can
drop off the Empire State Bldg. (my edit), -Panther 5500 Model (mid-range
ruggedness), 15", Day viewable, ok speed etc.,......$2440.........???

Any others someone would like to add to the discussion???????????

Any thought would be much appreciated!!!!!!!!!!!

I want to add myself to the list of satisfied users of this VERY bright
monitor:  Solarism LM 1503.  800 nits vs. 250 of a normal laptop. About
$500. Not marinized, but great in the pilothouse.
