"I've been told that the "tea" water from runoff in Florida is very hard on
finishes and causes blisters.
Maybe the explanation why fresh water may be the vixin. I understand its
the tannic acid in the runoff. I know on the coast here at Hernando Beach
and
around the blister situation is bad."
Since Barry blew through here the water is more the color and clarity of
several day old coffee left to simmer. Tasted the water in the bayou a day
later and found no noticeable trace of salt. Lovin' it cause the salt water
biotics die or don't exist to attach, and of course we woodies say,
"Blisters? What are they?" I once figured I could go 15 years taking
ordinary care of my wood bottom for the price of a blister repair and/or
proper barrier coat application.

I tend to agree with you. I can get 3 years out of a good bottom job here
at Hernando Beach if I dont spend the summer grounding the paint off. The
water here behind my house in the canals is fed by a lot of fresh water
springs.
