Well, Capt. Bill, I don't remember how this thread got started, and I don't recall ever saying that radar is mandatory. However, I do recommend radar, especially for the waters such as we cruise. I don't think there is a boat in our marina which does not have it. But maybe in other areas of the country, it is not as important. It has proven an invaluable safety aid for us.
