Visitors:
We welcome visitors to our site and are very willing to share migration
information, photography and ID tips with them. We have cards and
pamphlets, so come and talk to us. However, during times of high traffic,
requiring extra focus and concentration, we would respectfully ask that
everyone use their indoor voices and allow us to fulfill our mission to the
best of our abilities. Thank you.
Weather:
Itâs raining; itâs pouring; the counters are snoring. Today we had a
day of rest as it poured down on the count site. The skies remained dark
and gloomy as Sam and myself (Jackie) huddled inside to review this
seasonâs data. Winds outside were not as strong as predicted though, only
reaching gusts of 29 km per hour. Yesterday we had gusts of 35, so today
would have been a piece of cake!
Raptor Observations:
No birds to speak of since we didnât count today. Just a reminder though
that we are in the final countdown of the season! There are only nine days
to go, so if you havenât gotten your chance to see that Golden eagle,
plan to come to the count site!
Non-raptor Observations:
Nothing to report here, and I donât see any Little Gull sightings on
eBird either. Letâs see what may come tomorrow.
Predictions:
Tomorrow is going to be a chilly one, with little sun and a high of 43
oof. If you plan on coming out, bring your sleeping bags, because the
high wind will make it feel even colder. As for the birds, it may be a good
day tomorrow. Winds will reach 17 km per hour, but it will be from the NW
all day, a direction that weâve had some success in this season. Either
way, come out tomorrow to experience the Hawk watch before the 2023 season
is over!
