There has been much discussion about Verizon as cell phone and aircard
carrier while on the Great Loop.  No one has mentiooned T-Mobile, a GSM
carrier, which might be another option.

In particular, we use a T-Mobile Dash, a combination PDA, cell phone and
modem.  One can download email on the Dash alone or plug it into laptop for
bigger screen.  One of the nicer features is that even while it is
funtioning as a modem for the laptop, the cell phone can be used at the same
time to receive or send calls.  In our T-Mobile plan, there is unlimited
internet access as well as 500-1000 cell phone talking minutes,
Monday-Friday; unlimited on weekends.
e
It also has free International Roaming which would cover Canada....  Check
it out.

2nd question would be how to recommend dredging to Engineers or USCG in the
Little Wicomico River, Smith Point harbor.  Fabulous anchorage  once inside
inlet, this side of Potomac, but now has treacherous shoaling coupled with
fast moving current.  Volunteer rescue group plus Smith Point Marina saved
the day -- and boat -- for this boater.  Many thanks.
