OLD AGE--BRAGGING RIGHTS

Don't give up boating too early.

Recently some young 65 and 70 year old boaters have bemoaned some (engine
room) aches and pains. Pains that I believe normally come with the years.

At 77 I have my share but in spite of them I have installed alone this winter
a new gen-set water-lift muffler, a new hot water heater, radar, and
refrigerator evaporator.  I admit that I did have my Admiral help for an hour
pulling tubing for the evaporator. Needed three hands for that job.
I also put two coats of varnish, each spring and each fall on all exterior
teak. I believe all this work helps keep me young.

Our (adequate) single engine 1979 GB32 has some room beside the dependable
Ford Lehman. I even dieted off 20 pounds this winter so I could fit more
easily. (strange motivation, but it worked)

On top of that we plan a three month casual cruise from Annapolis to Maine and
back this summer. I'm good to 85 or so baring major disability. If I die
aboard, so be it. Better than in a bed.

This recently discovered quote applies:

"How soon a ship can age and die for want of the love of a human being."
