07/14/14 - Milford, Milford Point, Wheeler Marsh -- While leading a
summer camp group through the marsh, we found an American Avocet
roosting with egrets in the center of the marsh at high tide. The bird
flew to the west and we were unable to relocate it.
(Nobody else found it yet either.)

three fledglings very well.

Blue Heron.

07/13/14 - Simsbury, Great Pond -- An adult Mississippi Kite appeared
over the pond at 7:50 AM, hunted about 10 minutes, then disappeared.
Also had a Yellow-billed Cuckoo.

07/13/14 - Simsbury, Great Pond -- MISSISSIPPI KITE, flew in at about
12:40 and left almost immediately. I watched it circle for about two
minutes.

07/13/14 - Simsbury, Great Pond -- After spending a cumulative 12.5
hours last year at Great Pond and NOT seeing the Mississippi Kite, I
bagged it Sunday afternoon in exactly 10 minutes. At 1:20 PM the
bird came in for approximately 3 minutes before exiting to the left
(toward the west).

babies seen.

07/13/14 - Sherman, Wimisink Marsh -- American Bitterns; 3 babies on
island and one adult in open pond. Also, the yellow-billed cuckoo
flew by again to the trees to the left of the boardwalk.
