Dear summer reading and learning community:
The annual summer reading participation survey is now available on CLA's
summer reading website for your planning purposes:
http://calchallenge.org/evaluation/output-data/
As always:
- CLA will send out a survey via SurveyMonkey to collect your
participation data at the end of summer (please do not email your data
to CLA).
- We ask all public libraries to please complete the survey, whatever
summer reading theme you use.
- Please could one person from each library jurisdiction complete the
survey on behalf of all main and branch libraries in that jurisdiction.
New for 2016:
- The survey includes questions relating to the new Summer @ Your
Library quality principles. You can find information about the principles
at: http://calchallenge.org/resources/quality/
- The principles are designed to provide libraries with a framework for
achieving program outcomes, setting summer goals, planning activities, and
demonstrating strategies for developing and maintaining quality programs.
- Your responses to the survey will help us improve the support we
provide to libraries.
Please plan to complete the survey at the end of summer. Your responses are
used in state and federal reporting, in library advocacy efforts, and to
raise awareness of California's public library summer reading programs. Your
participation numbers are particularly important again this year because
they will tell us whether we achieved One Million Summer Reading Sign-Ups!

If you have any questions, please let me know.
Sincerely,
Shana
