Happy New Year CT Birders! Everyone’s year list is new again!
A quick reminder about our guidelines:
This list is for sharing information about birds and birding in Connecticut.
When reporting birds, please include the town where seen.
Always include your name and your town when posting.
Some birds should not be posted for the good of the bird. Examples are directions to accessible bird nests and any day-roosting owls - Screech, Great Horned, Barred, Barn, Long-eared and Saw-whet.
Proper language is expected, personal disagreements should be handled off-line and disruptive posts will not be tolerated.
Did you know?
• Attachments such as photos are not supported by the software.
• Prompt reporting of 'good' birds is appreciated by many in the birding community!
• When you want to post a reply to the list using email, use 'Reply to All'.
• When you want to reply only to the person who posted using email, use 'Reply'.
• You can automatically include your name and town with your email settings. Yay! Contact me if you need help setting this up.
If you have any questions or concerns, please let me know!

I second Chris Wood's thoughts today.
Happy Healthy New Year and Great Birding to all Connecticut Birders and
beyond.
And many THANKS to Chuck Imbergamo, who has been expertly moderating this
CTBirds listserv site since September 2021, replacing the legendary Roy
Harvey, who moderated it for many years.
Thanks also to all other COA Affiliates who are so essential for COA:

and to all COA Board Members:

and to our ARCC:

to everyone in COA who makes these twenty services possible:

(including our continually improving website, thanks to Cynthia Ehlinger
and Steve Morytko).
and to all COA members and Connecticut birders, and to all the
other birding, science and conservation organizations in CT and nearby.
Many thanks also to all the speakers who made our two recent COA Science
Conferences work well. You can see them here:
https://www.ctbirding.org/events/coa-science-conference/
and the Proceedings of the recent one on Nov.5, 2022 is under-construction
here:

Note that our keynote speaker was John Waldman whose books and recent New
York Times articles included a few days ago on Dec.30:

?
and September 20:

Birds are a window into Nature and the environment which we all need to
survive.
Thanks to everyone who cares about these matters.
Thank you for caring; we can make a difference.
A happy healthy new year to every one of you, to our community of birders.
And may you all enjoy some wonderful birds in 2023 (-:
