You may have just been unlucky with your BME280. I use such a Bosch sensor
in a RPi weather monitor (it may be a BME380 actually but in any case they
are all end of life now, the 390 is the current one). For several years,
more than 3 at least, this seems to be within 1 mbar of what the met office
app reports for my locality.
Having said that the setup I use has different sensors for T and %rh (I can
check which ones in a day or 2) so perhaps the BME is only good for P.
I'll have a closer look and be in touch.
