Hello,

I am new to these groups, and impressed with all the help they provide.
I am looking for any help in choosing a mail forwarding service.
What are the key points to look at and what are the choices most boaters have made?

Thanks, Gerald

We have had outstanding service from St. Brenden's Isle mail service for
2 and a half years.  Website: www.sbimailservice.com.  Phone (800)
544-2132.  They have different plans to fit different needs.  Easy to
deal with and never a mistake.  I have no connection to this company
except to be a satisfied customer.

We have used - take a deep breath - the U.S. Postal Service for
forwarding our mail weekly.  For a $10 per week fee, they will bundle up
the mail for the week and send it to you by Exprerss Mail anywhere in the
country.  They were pretty good, at least for our use, which was only to
a single location.  But it should work for anywhere in the US on the
loop.  You would just have to give them location information for each
shipment, such as a marina you plan to stop at, or another post office.

When we were looping we used the UPS Store nearest our home.  We rented a
box there and called them periodically with an address to forward our mail.
They'd box it up and get it right out.  Fantastic Service!

Gerald:

We used St Brendan's Isle, a forwarding service for boaters and Rvers based
in Florida. They were extremely professional and always forwarded our
accumulated mail exactly where we wanted it and when.

One trick. If it is possible, keep your mail address for all of your
account, subscriptions, etc. at your home base and simply tell the USPS to
forward your mail to your forwarding service while you are cruising. I think
the USPS will let you do this for 6 mo at a time. If you permanently change
your mailing address to the forwarder, then you will have to change it all
back when you stop cruising.
