Willard Marine is considering the switch to stainless steel Robertson
square drive screws for our trawler construction.

I had never seen a Robertson drive screw until I purchased Meridian which
was built in Canada. My hull is steel but the rest is all wood and these
screws are used exclusively. I was told these type of screws are used in
Canada and  in the RV industry.  I like them because they are very difficult
to strip out.  They are also easy to insert since the  design allows them to
stay on the screw driver, even when in a horizontal position.  Try that with
a flat or Phillips head.  I have had some problems removing them if they are
painted over.

On the other hand, I have not found this style drive on stainless screws
around my area.

I don't know if these are Robertson's or not, but I buy my SS square drive
screws through McFeelys. Check out http://www.mcfeelys.com

They come in 305, 410 and 316 stainless, silicon bronze, and brass.

Dear Docmoss: Someday I'll find out your real name. Meanwhile, with
tongue firmly planted in cheek, let me recommend your state beomes
Canada's eleventh province....
Robertson screws along with that other Candian invention: the
paintroller and that little known chemical"Insulin" all come
automatically with Canadian citizenship.

I really have to find my asbestos suit now, eh, what?  George of
