National Coalition for Literacy Board Members List
View all threadsNCL Board Members,
Just a heads up â I volunteered to co-recruit â co-something â a meeting being held here next week at the National Skills Coalitionâs office here in Washington to preview some pre-publication findings from a national research effort funded by the Joyce Foundation on the current role and potential for instructional technologies in adult education.
I believe all of you received this invitation already. When I asked to look at their mailing list, it was clear that for adult ed representation, NSC began by simply grabbing the e-mail addresses of this board from our Web site. Also, it appeared to me that they mainly invited people outside of the adult ed community.
Anyway, after talking with the organizers about this over the weekend, I asked about NCL playing some sort of recognized (if informal) role, in return for helping them recruit people to the meeting (a meeting that Joyce requested they host, on very short notice). They agreed. It seemed like a good opportunity for NCL to ensure that the adult education community is well-represented at such meetings, as well as keep up our profile in the adult education policy space here in D.C.
As for now, there is no formal role for NCL other than me helping them get a good group of people in the room.
Thanks. Let me know if you have any questions or concerns.

Thanks for representing NCL and adult ed, Jeff in this meeting. I did
receive an invitation but I cannot take the time or money to come to DC for
a two-hour meeting.
