To All -
If you liked the weather from last weekend, you'll love the forecast for
next weekend. Pretty much the same thing, just a little bit warmer.
Definitely bring your sun screen!
Months ago we planned the 2nd Learn to Cruise event for this weekend. The
weekend is divided into three parts, and participants can join in as they
wish. The high points of the weekend are to learn how to reserve a slip at
Shattemuc Yacht Club using Dockwa, how to provision your boat for overnight
stays, and how to anchor north of Croton Point or Bowline Point depending on
the weather. Enjoy dinner at the Boat House Restaurant in Ossining (Friday),
and spend Friday and Saturday nights on your boat in two different
locations. The annual weekend Clearwater Festival is at Croton Point, so you
can go ashore in your dinghy on Saturday/Sunday if you wish or just hang out
on your anchor, listen to the music, and watch the Hudson River Sloop
Clearwater pick up and discharge passengers.
Like all of our planned cruises, you will have several choices to stay or
return home as the weekend progresses.
Dinner Cruise Friday, June 14th
Leave Nyack at 5 pm and sail up to Shattemuc Yacht Club in Ossining (about
an hour) to enjoy cocktails in the bar at SYC 6 - 7 pm, and enjoy dinner at
the Boat House Restaurant. After dinner you can either sail back to Nyack,
or spend the night at marina.
To reserve a dock space at the SYC marina, contact Dockwa in advance. Space
is limited, and SYC has another event going on this weekend, so making dock
space reservations is strongly recommended, even just for dinner. The code
for one night free dock space at SYC is NBCRCP19. See attached instructions.
Dinner will be at the Boat House Restaurant. To be part of the NBC group
reservations, contact Lee Luce at luce01@optonline.net , Ph 845-918-1158.
Clearwater Festival (aka the Great Hudson River Revival)
Saturday, June 15th - enjoy the pool at SYC Saturday morning, then sail
around the corner to the Clearwater Festival and anchor off Croton Point.
The current will be against you going up. Raft up with other Club members
during the day. Swim. Clean your hull. Read a good book. If you have a
dinghy, go ashore, buy a ticket, and enjoy the Festival. (Warning - this is
a very expensive event ~ $90/day/person). Eat & sleep on your boat Saturday
night under a nearly full moon.
Sunday, June 16th - happy Father's Day! High tide is 11 am, so that is the
time to head south back to Nyack. You could stop back at Shattemuc with the
kids for a quick swim on the way.
For more information, don't hesitate to contact Jeff Levy (jaffloat@me.com)
or Lee Luce (luce01@optonline.net). See you on the water.
