snip<I would accept an electronically controlled
engine on my single engined trawler ONLY if it had a fully mechanical fail
safe backup system not dependent on electrical power. After all, I have
candles on hand if the lights go out.>

I have a Mercedes that had been a model of Teutonic reliability until it

warranty.
No flatbeds in Bass Strait.
