The pump Scott was referring to is the Ericson Safety Pump.  See
http://www.pumpitout.nf.ca/ for more info.  There are four sizes, which
depending on your shaft size, shaft RPM, and head are claimed to pump anywhere
from 4800 GPH to 75,000 GPH.

I have one onboard SOLARA, but until I actually install it it probably won't
do me much good!  And yes, the shaft does have to be turning.

Thanks,
Steve Hazlerig

| I'm  not familiar with these turbine pumps of which you write. Can you offer

ESP - 308 Intended Service An ESP pump is intended to be used for the
removal of water from the bilges in an emergency situation and operates
automatically as long as the engine of the vessel functions. When the vessel
operates normally, the ESP pump helps to ventilate its engine compartment.
Description Ratings ESP pumps are made of corrosion resistant aluminium
alloy and are designed for mounting directly on the propeller shaft. They
are intended to operate under wet or dry conditions. Intended for use on
vessels with a propeller shaft diameter ranging from 25 mm to 70 mm and it
can pump at shaft speeds ranging from 500 RPM to 2000 RPM with the following
performance: Shaft Speed (RPM): 600; Head (m): 2; Capacity (ltrs/min): 780;
Shaft Speed (RPM): 800; Head (m): 3; Capacity (ltrs/min): 1320; Shaft Speed
(RPM): 1500; Head (m): 12; Capacity (ltrs/min): 2400
