Safety Matters, Mike Wittman, Vuecrest Safety Committee Chair
During most of August we have had two City of Bellevue radar trailers in the neighborhood, with several hoped-for results: 1) to bring attention to driver's speeds; 2) to discourage cut-through traffic; and 3) to eventually obtain the results of measured speeds in multiple locations of our community. Each trailer has the ability to store speeds, according to the officer who deployed the trailers.  We hope to have the trailers for a couple more weeks, and to re-locate them to likely excess-speed zones, such as inbound and outbound Park Road.  If you feel there are vehicles traveling at excess speeds on your street, please contact safety@vuecrest.netmailto:safety@vuecrest.net.

Within the past week, the neighborhood experienced a reported robbery (early Sunday morning, August 25th).  While we do not know the details, the incident is a reminder to always secure your home at night, including: 1) locking all points of entry; 2) locking your vehicle and/or removing the garage door opener at night, or using the lock-mode on the interior control pad; 3) using motion-sensor lighting or dusk to dawn lighting on your home exterior lights; 4) keeping your exterior neat and tidy with no obvious items of value either outside or in your vehicle; and 5) keeping shrubs and foliage trimmed to minimize opportunities for a burglar to hide.  Also, review the list included in the June article of "Safety Matters".

Our annual Vuecrest picnic is scheduled from 4-6pm on September 14.  This is an excellent opportunity to meet your neighbors, which is a great way to discuss mutual safety matters, and we will have the opportunity to visit with both the invited Bellevue Police and Fire Department representatives, who are always willing to share tips on staying safe and securing your residences!  Be safe out there!

Good Neighbor Compliance Committee updates, Chris Bodiford, Committee chair
One of the most discussed restrictions the community association has with its members is in regard to hedge heights.
Below are snips from our Vuecrest CCnR's showing the restrictions that are part of all properties in Veucrest and is very easy, simple to understand rule.
Please contact Chris at goodneighbor@vuecrest.netmailto:goodneighbor@vuecrest.net if you have any questions or have a concern you need help.

Trash/Recycle/Yard waste tote etiquette
Here's a few reminders regarding trash/recycle/yard waste tote etiquette in the Vuecrest community;

  • Totes should be put out the day before collection and then pulled back in the day after collection
  • Totes should be stored on your property in a place not visible from the street
  • Place totes at or nearest the end of your driveway for collection only
  • Secure all bin lids in the down position, especially the garbage bin to ensure lids are down and garbage is contained and helps keep birds and other critters from making a mess before collection
  • Ask a neighbor to put your totes out or bring them in if you are planning to be out of town
  • Never leave totes out on the street for an extended period of time
  • Promptly clean-up any trash or other debris that may have occurred near your property during collection day
