Re: T&T: Cell Phone Amps

David raises the question about cell phone amplifiers.  Well I have one too, would an amplifier be useful where T-Mobile (our carrier) has a weak signal and defers to Rogers in Canada even though we have set the preferred network as T-Mobile?  I suppose an amplifier  boost up all signals, just hoping that there would be enough T-Mobile signal for the phone to use.

David:  Check out Wilson 811215 or 801215, no antenna.  solidsignal.com might be source.

As the boating season in the far north is about to get underway, what says the list about a Wilson cell booster system or alternatives thereto.

Specifically, what are the complete costs for an external antenna, internal amp and any other associated hardware?

Experiences: Good, bad, indifferent??

Thanks, the Wilson item which has been suggested to me is 811210 or its
sisters. Looks good and I do need an antenna. I plan to investigate further.

Regarding unwanted signals from Canada, you might enquire to the list or
maybe to Wilson if there is a directional antenna available for cell
service. A small yagi type antenna pointed toward the states would give
strong gain in that direction and very weak signal from Canada. I don't know
about how selective a cell phone receiver is, but in theory something like
that would work, if available. Otherwise, you may be out of luck.

Unit requires an attachment to the cell phone or data device.

There are Yagi antennas for cellular use. Some phones let you lockout all
but your native provider. One brand with that software option (in the model
I had) is LG.
