This is the I10 bridge that was pretty much destroyed by hurricane Ivan, The east bound lane, which is closest to you will only be able to support 1 lane & it is pretty much mostly metal grate road now. They now say they plan to build a new bridge. This bridge is normally 20 or 30 feet above the water at the lowest point. The bridge in the background is the railroad bridge & it is operating normal today. Picture of the Interstate 10 bridge with the storm surge running over it. You can see the half of the trailer in the far left and I suspect that storm surge was even higher at some point. I don't know who took the picture but they probably shouldn't have been out in the storm at this point. L. Derrik Owens, P. E.
