Let's Have a Picnic Americana Celebration
Sunday, May 1, 10 am-4 pm
Bring your family and celebrate May Day at the museum. Join us for a picnic outside or grab a snack from the café as we celebrate American Chronicles: The Art of Norman Rockwell. Play an assortment of traditional family games with us and then watch some performances of American Classics in the Murray Family Event Space. There will also be hands-on art making activities. Museum admission is free for all youth under 18 years old, regular admission for adults.
Draw chalk train tracks on Pacific Ave to connect Union Station and Tacoma Art Museum in celebration of the 100th anniversary of Union Station.
Norman Rockwell and the American Dream , 10:30 am
Listen to art historian Susan Olds, discuss the major accomplishments, artistic process, and personal life of Norman Rockwell.
Metro Arts Dance Performances, 12:10 pm
Toddler Dance Lesson, 12:30 pm
Grant Elementary Center student performance, 1 pm
Ongoing activities include: Decorate a bandana, play board games, create a macaroni necklace, watch some classic cartoons.
