Probably not a bad idea. I see on the MMO website they mention 4 oz. to 10 gal of gasoline. I bought a 4-stroke because i don't like the smell of burning oil and fouled spark plugs. I think the answer is a small amount for lube and anti-rust. I figured since most of us use it in the main engine (Lehman), someone might have tried it in the outboard. I will be trying it in a couple of weeks.

Thanks,Duane

Duane,

If you want to add a lubricant/rust inhibitor, why not use 2-cycle oil?
It is designed to mix with gasoline, not damage rubber parts, and burn
in the combustion chamber with the least residue. The MMO mix of 1QT per
100 gallons is 400 to 1 fuel to oil.  Two cycle outboards run at 50 to 1
to 100 to 1.  A 400 to one mix probably won't do any harm.

For years I've put transmission (automotive) fluid in the gas of my old
Mercesdes.  They have a mechnical fuel injection system and when they get
old they tend to get a little cranky (as do we all).  A quart of
transmission fluid (high detergent) in the gas every 6 months will keep it
from being sticky and jerky when cold.  Doesn't seem to affect the plugs.

I suspect a little upper cylinder lubrication doesn't hurt any gas engine.
