Ya know I just don't understand how Boat US figures all this stuff. I have
heard about the premium increases that folks have experienced, but mine has
not. I got about a 10% discount this year and a notice about maximum "named
hurricane" coverage limits. I am about < into my second year of coverage
with them and no claims to date. The boat is located in Northern Alabama on
the TN River. Policy renews each Jan 1.

I am pleased to inform the list that BoatUS has given me a 10% discount for
being claim free. That's such great news that it almost offsets the
nearly
20% increase they've given me on this years renewal. I know this has been
a
hot topic B-4 but does anyone have any recommendations for obtaining a
quote? I think it't time to shop around. I boat on lake MI in the summer
and Pickwick in the winter and the rivers in between.
Thanks

Hi, I was shown a quote from one of the larger Underwriters of Insurance for
the Caribbean on Thursday. I almost crooked!
The rates was 2% of value and covered the whole Caribbean sans Columbia and
Cuba with a 5% deductible. Very reasonable for this area....then my eyes
fell to the exclusions box.
No coverage for named windstorms from.....9 degrees to 19 degrees north for
the Caribbean longitude! This basically means from south of Trinidad to
North of the Islands. It used to be 12 to 18.
So by doing so, if this is adopted by other underwriters, they have cut the
legs out from under all the marine industry in the southern Caribbean.
Trinidad, Venezuela and Grenada are all in the box now. So hello Guyana I
guess we become the "new hotspot" for summer hurricane storage in the
Caribbean. Seahorse John, have you heard anything about this yet?
So the rates went down but the coverage disappeared, in this case!
