Arild's right. The hard shell covers make a big difference over the
soft pads. And you can kind of skid around on them which helps too.

Kunes the tool pouch people now offer a gel pack knee pad.
The outer shell is a harder plastic so it stands up better to things
like diamond plate and kneeling on stringers with little things sticking
up.

I put down some scrap carpet and it is REALLY easy on the knees. A long
piece on each side of the gen set and between the engines.
