I'd like to publicly thank Scott Kruitbosch for his efforts today at
Stratford Point with the White-tailed Kite. Scott was kind enough to leave
the gate open all day, was very busy helping new arrivals get on the bird,
and was constantly sending out email/phone updates on the status of the
bird. Scott was also instrumental in maintaining a safe atmosphere with
respect to all the vehicles and people that were constantly coming and
going. Let's hope the bird sticks around long enough for others who couldn't
make it today. Thanks Scott!

And to Dennis for finding the bird!  Now if it hangs around until next weekend, I might actually be able to see it!

I have a large (35 feet) Mimosa Tree in my yard in Somers, and Sunday morning @ 6:30ish I had a single Magnolia Warbler feeding in the tree.  The bird appeared to be feeding on the flowers??  I have not heard of warblers feeding on Nectar, but not sure.  I also assume this is an early migrant, as I am not aware of them nesting in the immediate area.

Thank you all for the kind words. It was my pleasure, and I hope everyone
who came got great looks at the bird. As I type this at Stratford Point,
11:26AM, the bird is still here sitting in a small tree. It occasionally
takes short flights. If you have not come down yet you really should now!

Does anyone know whether the Kite left Stratford Point early this morning or
did it hang around most of the morning like it did yesterday?  Any info
would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

P.S. Sorry for posting this again but it apparently went out to the wrong
