Nighthawks feeding on an insect hatch at the west end of the runway.
When I left around 7 PM, the flock had shifted over the nearby strip
malls and Walmart. (Joining in were several hundred swallows and 4
Ring-billed Gulls.)

08/19/14 - Meriden yard -- While planting late perennials in a front
bed this afternoon, 200 to 300 chimney swifts and 1 Common Nighthawk
in their midst passed over my house. Most swifts I've ever seen. I
don't often see Mighthawks either.

was hanging upside down, feeding upon something under a leaf, about
8' in front of me and only 9' above ground this morning. It was the
best look which I have ever had at one and my camera was hanging
around my neck, but I forgot I had it with me.

1 male HOODED WARBLER (Orchard), 5 COMMON NIGHTHAWK.
