I was following this thread last week and have a question for the list.

I've built a small boat in my shop (plywood/epoxy/fiberglass) and after many
hours of fairing, I used System 3's WATER BASED 2 part epoxy primer using
roll and tip technique. I'm very satisfied with it's flow out, leveling,
sand-ability, very low odor and easy soap and water cleanup of brushes, etc.
You can apply additional primer coats WITHOUT SANDING within up to 72 hours
after the previous application, which I did (3 coats).  It has good
"building" characteristics and fills in minor flaws and scratches quite
nicely.  My question is, now I'm ready for top coat and am looking at System
3's product, which is a 2 part, again WATER BASED, polyurethane paint,
claimed to have reasonable gloss and wear characteristics, easily rolled and
tipped, but a rather limited color selection (12 choices, including clear,
versus dozens with Awl Grip).  System 3 recommends, if you want a really
high gloss, to apply a final coat of their clear paint, which I probably
will not do.  The main thing that appeals to me, as with their primer, is
its low toxicity versus AwlGrip and the other solvent based 2-part PU
paints, which makes it nice for an amateur like me to do the work in my home
shop.

Anyone out there have any experience with the System 3 top coat product?

Many thanks,

Mike Schwartz
