Through a mixup this is a slightly late report.
As occurred last week, the immature NORTHERN GANNET was seen over Hamilton
Harbour, on the Skyway side of Pier 25, between 08:00 and 08:30
YESTERDAY, Dec. 10, 2002
TAke the QEW to Eastport Drive, follow Eastport to Toolgate POnds. Look
for two tall construction cranes on the bridge side of the harbour, and
the big Dofasco sign across the harbour. It appeared that the bird may
have roosted on one of the ships tied up to the east.
At Niagara Falls yesterday there were two LESSER BLACK-BACKED GULLS on the
control gate breakwall above the falls, two PURPLE SANDPIPERS on the rocks
opposite the nature area above the old powerhouse (look to the right of a
large log which looks like an arch in mid-river), and an adult and an
immature ICELAND GULL at Adam Beck. No sign of recently reported rarities.
